Quote Builder
Terms of use
Last updated 31 October 2026
This is a draft awaiting legal review. It describes how Quote Builder works today; the wording may change.
1. About these terms
Quote Builder is provided by Richard Shaylor (“we”) to landscaping businesses (“the business”) and the people they invite. By using it, the business and its users agree to these terms. A separate written agreement with a business takes priority over them.
2. Accounts
- Quote Builder is invite-only. A business decides who it invites and what role each person has, and is responsible for what they do in it.
- You sign in with a code sent to your email. Keep your email account secure, and don't share codes.
- Tell the business, or us, straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
3. The business's data
- The business owns what it puts into Quote Builder: its rate card, items, quotes and its clients' details.
- It lets us store and process that data only to provide the service. Our data processing agreement with the business covers any personal data in it, and our privacy notice covers users' accounts.
- The business is responsible for having the right to put its clients' and nurseries' details into Quote Builder.
4. Quotes and prices
Quote Builder works out prices from the rate card and figures the business enters. The business is responsible for checking every quote before sending it, and for the prices it gives its clients.
5. Fair use
Don't use Quote Builder to break the law, try to get into data you shouldn't see, test or get around its security, overload it, or copy or resell the service.
6. Charges
While Quote Builder is in its pilot, there is no charge, unless we've agreed one with the business in writing.
7. Availability
We provide Quote Builder with reasonable care and skill, and try to keep it running, but can't promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may need to take it down for maintenance or change how it works.
8. Leaving
A business can stop using Quote Builder at any time, and we can end its use with 30 days' notice, or straight away if these terms are seriously broken. On request, we'll give the business an export of its data within 30 days of leaving. We then delete its data within 90 days, and it leaves our backups 7 days after that.
9. Liability
- We aren't liable for loss of profit, business or work, or for indirect losses.
- Our total liability to a business in any 12 months is limited to what it paid us in those 12 months, or £100 if it paid nothing.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Changes and law
We may update these terms, and will tell businesses about significant changes before they apply. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute. Questions go to privacy@shaylor.org.
